Well, Hello Monday!

I don’t know why I’m so cheery. I’m truly not happy to see you. I mean I’m thanking God I have seen you, but I wish the weekend would have lasted a bit longer! I have to tell you some of the cool things I’ve been up to!

I’ve added 2 beautiful bowls to my kitchen items, thanks to those talented kids within our program who made bowls to be auctioned off to raise awareness for Hunger Relief and raise money for our organization!

Friday I got to relax a bit, then Saturday I had a very good workout doing Zumba! I pushed myself and though I craved everything at IHOP, I managed to talk myself into going home and making 2 scrambled eggs with light cheese and a little bit of honey ham. I was trying to be satisfied but not all the way full because I knew my husband would want to take his friends out to dinner later, and boy was THAT GOOD!

Pasta Copelands

A new favorite dish of mine from Copeland’s restaurant! It consists of tender shrimp, sautéed with garlic mushrooms and fresh herbs over angel hair pasta. I got a side of pirogue sauce (similar to Alfredo) to give it a bit of additional flavor and WOW! It was awesome! Combine that with good friends sharing an appetizer, what more could you ask for? I’m so glad I decided to go with light eating to allow myself to go a bit overboard for an early dinner! That’s another key factor here, I knew I wanted to go out and “cheat” a bit, so dinner was at 4 instead of later since the dish was so heavy! It was worth every last drop! I love how great the food is and the atmosphere at Copelands! Not to mention, we always get this wonderful waiter named Marcus, who simply knows how to give the best service and advice when it comes to picking a dish! There is a reason I love that place so much!

Sunday morning, my hubby cooked a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and sausage. While he experimented with the pancakes (yeah I didn’t care for them too much lol), I enjoyed the eggs and sausage. He had to work the afternoon and night of Easter, so I did spend quite some time by myself, but my lovely student, Peter, went and ate dinner with me so I wouldn’t have to be by myself:) I also had some great friends who shared messages with me, and text me so I wouldn’t be completely lonely (Thanks Tiara and Monique 🙂 I realized Holidays are very important to me, and that is why I want to spend them with the people that I love most 🙂

Hey Friends!I’…

Hey Friends!
I’ve had a lot goin on the past few days so please forgive me for not coming to you with a post of some sort. It’s just been super busy! But hey, No excuses right? My job has been really busy, I’ve been working out heavily, and just simply had a lot on my mind…
I’m happy to report though that I lost another pound! It seems like my weight loss is creeping by.. I know I would lose more if I cut back more, but I’ve cut back quite a lot, and my thing is, I’m trying to adopt a lifestyle I can live with. Not some crazy diet, that I won’t stick too.. So I’ve been cutting back, going to a simple shake in the morning.. I’m looking forward to starting Shakeology but for right now it’s Slim Fast until the Shakeology order comes in. I’ve been cutting back my portions, drinking lots of water and exercising at least 5 times a week. I’ve lost 4.5 so far, but would love to lose more! Ill keep you posted!!!!

Also, I’m trying to get more sleep. I think I’m doing okay in this department but there is always room for improvement. I try to get 8 hours of sleep but getting mostly 7. Sleep is so important! 

So are you living a healthy lifestyle? If so, what are you doing? I’m always looking for tips! Here are the tips I’ve come up with so far:

1. Never deprive yourself. Just cut back.. Depriving oneself causes you to be miserable and have horrible meltdowns (at least that’s what I think)

2.Discover New Foods- That’s what I’m working on! Trying to find foods that I’ve never had, and for those I’ve had but maybe haven’t loved so much,  I’m trying to discover them in a new light!

3. NO REFILLS– It might sound silly, but when it comes to my love for Sweet Tea, I know that due to the sugar content I just can’t drink as much as I want too! For that reason, I immediately say no to refills on some of my favorite sugary drinks. At least when I’m allowing myself to indulge. Now I’m drinking water, by all means I can have as much as possible!

4. Be Smart- You know what’s good for you and what isn’t! You know what works and what doesn’t! Keep those things in mind whenever choosing food to eat!

5. Stay focused and motivated! Whatever it takes!! I keep thinking, I need to get down to a healthy weight and I know that I can do it! If you keep yourself focused and motivated, it will be a bit easier to stay on track. We all have our days, and all we can do is try to have better days!


Those are my tips for now. I’m working on myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I know that there is a lot I could change about myself and I’m working to do so. What about you?
