Gotta Love Family

3 Dec

After all the Turkey, the green beans, I must say I was one stuffed bird.
However, while lamenting on all the food I had, I must tell you, I was feeling overwhelmingly blessed.

I can’t tell you the last time I was able to get together with my whole family. First off, it was a complete surprise to my grandmother. My mother in law kept insisting the importance of family, and encouraged me to go visit my grandmother and family. I’m so glad that she did.
In fact, my thanksgiving break consisted of:

  • My Family meeting Christian for the first time
  • Endless nights of Phase 10 because we love that game 🙂 (Cousin Alicia became a pro)
  • Dark Family Rooms and Scary Movies, because that’s what we love
  • Joint sleeping with family laying everywhere (floors, couches, and spare bedrooms to be specific)
  • Great Food (obviously)
  • Celebrating Christian’s First Thanksgiving
  • Shopping (why not?)
  • Sweets (more than you could ever imagine)
  • Deep Discussions, Special talks, even laughter 🙂
  • Pictures (you know I love to take them!)
  • Most importantly, so much to be thankful for.

After all, we have so much to be thankful for. I’m thankful that I was able to spend time with family, although I did miss my husband, but I was having way too much fun to actually sit down and think about it. In fact, I was thinking how great it was for us to be together in one accord. My cousins and I laughed at the fact that some things will never change, but we appreciated each and everyone for who they are and realize how important family is. Today, marks a year since my Aunt Artie left us. It was hard not having her there this Thanksgiving, but I think everyone there felt a strong sense of her presence in the room. We have so much to be thankful for, let’s remember to thank God for EVERYTHING, even the small things, and to appreciate family despite their imperfections or faults.
In fact, God made them that way for a reason.

Until Next Time, Much Love,

Fall Traditions

17 Oct

Today’s Blogtober Fest topic, was to share Fall Traditions….

At first, I thought, well I don’t really do anything that is  a  so called “tradition”, but the more I thought about it, there are things my husband and I did last year, that we plan to continue doing so I guess we do have our own traditions!

1. Friendsgiving- I had a coworker once tell me that she was having dinner with all of her friends, just to celebrate all the things they are thankful for, etc… I can’t remember all the details, but I remember thinking, what a splendid idea? I’m going to get together a group of my friends and do the same!!!!

2. Fall Cleaning??- It’s simple. Do some spring cleaning in the fall. I personally like to really take a serious look in my closet, and see if I truly need everything that I have, or is there something I can give away and donate to those in need! This is something I do frequently throughout the year, especially in fall though!

3.  Charity Walks! WHoo hoo!- Although they are often done many times throughout the year, it wasn’t until last Fall I truly was inspired to really get involved! Last year, I walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the first time in honor of my coworker, Paula, and it was amazing! This year, I will be volunteering at the race, but I also have decided to take on a walk to raise money for the Arkansas Aids Foundation! This is such an amazing organization where money actually goes to to physician care, lab work, and life sustaining medications for people living with HIV/AIDS who are not currently eligible for other assistance. I’m asking people to give me at least a dollar so I can help raise money for an organization that is slightly overlooked sometimes!

So my Fall traditions consists of cleaning, friends, and giving back in more ways than one. I love being involved and making a difference in the lives of others. I also love spending time with those I love.

What Fall Traditions do you have? Any similar to mine?  I’d love to  know! Please share!!

Until Next Time, Much Love,

Mrs. Spj 🙂

Wonderful Working Weekend

9 Dec

YAY It’s Friday!!!!! That means no working at my usual job, BUT I get to work doing what I LOVE!
PHOTOGRAPHY!
It’s a hobby of mine that has grown into a deep love affair! (Yep I sleep with my camera… JOKING!)
Im trying to improve my craft and have had an amazing time doing so! Check out some graduation shots I did of someone not too long ago:

This is  Christi! Isn’t she beautiful? Well Christi is getting ready to graduate and will be officially an RN! How wonderful! She asked me to take some graduation shots of her and I was so thrilled to do some! Check out some more of the cool photo shoot below:

I had such a fun time at this photo shoot with her despite the fact the sun kept peaking it’s lil head in and out! It made for some trick shooting but it worked out in the end. They turned out great!  Also my best friend came in to town with my Goddaughter and surprised me with my mom! While they were here, I got some great holiday shots! Check them out:

I had so much fun with them! The point here though is to show you that I think my work has improved big time! This weekend I will have the opportunity to take Children’s Photos with Santa and take pictures for my co worker to have a family portrait! Let’s just say I’m truly excited about it! I’m so happy that my hobby is really growing and turning into something! SO FUN!

Ill keep you posted until next time to see what happens..

Until Then, Much Mrs. SPJ 🙂
