Gotta Love Family

3 Dec

After all the Turkey, the green beans, I must say I was one stuffed bird.
However, while lamenting on all the food I had, I must tell you, I was feeling overwhelmingly blessed.

I can’t tell you the last time I was able to get together with my whole family. First off, it was a complete surprise to my grandmother. My mother in law kept insisting the importance of family, and encouraged me to go visit my grandmother and family. I’m so glad that she did.
In fact, my thanksgiving break consisted of:

  • My Family meeting Christian for the first time
  • Endless nights of Phase 10 because we love that game 🙂 (Cousin Alicia became a pro)
  • Dark Family Rooms and Scary Movies, because that’s what we love
  • Joint sleeping with family laying everywhere (floors, couches, and spare bedrooms to be specific)
  • Great Food (obviously)
  • Celebrating Christian’s First Thanksgiving
  • Shopping (why not?)
  • Sweets (more than you could ever imagine)
  • Deep Discussions, Special talks, even laughter 🙂
  • Pictures (you know I love to take them!)
  • Most importantly, so much to be thankful for.

After all, we have so much to be thankful for. I’m thankful that I was able to spend time with family, although I did miss my husband, but I was having way too much fun to actually sit down and think about it. In fact, I was thinking how great it was for us to be together in one accord. My cousins and I laughed at the fact that some things will never change, but we appreciated each and everyone for who they are and realize how important family is. Today, marks a year since my Aunt Artie left us. It was hard not having her there this Thanksgiving, but I think everyone there felt a strong sense of her presence in the room. We have so much to be thankful for, let’s remember to thank God for EVERYTHING, even the small things, and to appreciate family despite their imperfections or faults.
In fact, God made them that way for a reason.

What can I say?

Clearly it keeps me busy because I don’t hardly post like I use to and Baby boy is almost 5 months old!
I will tell you though, it has been 5 of the most incredible moments of my life.

When I first became a mother, I thought, “I can do this!”
but once he was here, there was a small part of me that screamed out, “I DON’T THINK I CAN DO THIS!”
However with time comes learned lessons, and I love being his mom!

He’s the happiest most smiling baby I’ve ever known.

Yes I still get up in the middle of the night, get thrown up on, and change smelly diapers as well as listening to him when he breathes, but he’s my little man. So please forgive me as I am adjusting to this period. I plan to share with you all of the wonders of motherhood in months to come. I’m still on this journey of being MrsSPJ with my new, most challenging yet rewarding job called Motherhood.

Until Next Time,

My Random Tidbit

28 Sep

What can I say?
This week seemed to go by so fast.
A lot happened at work..
I mean, one day I had a director, the next I didn’t.
Then one of my co workers said her final goodbyes..
Check out this rad away gift my co worker Melody put together for her:

I think it’s totally amazing. It’s a “Garden” of love. On the back we all wrote our own sentiments to our lovely Jenny…

I’m going to miss her… But you know, after a week I’ve had, I can tell you,
life is so unpredictable. Things happen, people come, they go, and well life although at times can seem very redundant and as if we are all in this same routine that never ends, life can have it’s hiccups, it’s bumps in the road, and sometimes we can be sent off on a course that is completely unexpected.

So with that, I’m taking every day as a brand new day,
accepting all that comes with it, and all that life has to offer.
God is pretty awesome, so I know that whatever turn, curve, or way he takes me, it’s for a reason that I sometimes don’t discover until much later.

Today, I want to encourage you to embrace everyday and the newness it has to offer. While life can be a routine, be open to changes (don’t worry, i’m telling myself this as well), and enjoy this journey called life….

You’re here for a reason, so why you are on this journey, you might want to figure it out 🙂

Until Next Time, Much Love,

Mrs. SPJ 🙂

Fabulous Hair!

24 Jul

Hey Friends!

I must tell you,  I’m enjoying this Hair Journey I’ve been on lately.
I’ve been taking Hairfinity for close to 5 1/2 months and loving the progress! I know you guys hear me talk about it often, but I get so many emails, questions, etc in regards to my hair, I figured the best way to keep you updated was to make post from time to time about my hair. So currently this is where I’m at with my hair:

Before Hairfinity

5 months w/ Hairfinity

As you can see, it’s much shinier, healthier, and it’s getting to the length I’ve been longing for!

I continue to use the Essentious Products and keep various oils within my reach! My favorite are Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Coconut Oil. I use the coconut oil the most, but use the others when I want to change it up from time to time!

My hair stylist encouraged me to get layers the last time I went, but the idea of cutting my hair was quite frightening (especially since I’m trying to grow it out!) After thinking about it, I realized she wanted me to get layers to give my hair a little bit more body, but keep my length. So it was a bit longer but I got a few layers and she made it quite even. Whatcha think?

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you saw it first!

Instagram @MrsSpj

My husband tried to be funny once and say, well of course your hair is going to grow after 5 1/2 months. NO. He is Incorrect. The year before when I first cut my hair, I cut it very short.

April 2011

Compare that to when I started Hairfinity in January. I cut my hair only twice between this time and they were very small trimmings. If you compare this picture to when I started Hairfinity In January, you can see the difference that Hairfinity has made in my hair growth journey!

I’m just truly grateful and will continue to do what I can to take care of my hair and keep it healthy! I’m currently working on getting some protective styles to help it grow longer in the fall. I currently have not been taking hairfinity for the last few weeks due to running out but please believe there is another set of pills on the way! In the meantime, I’m keeping myself and my hair Healthy!!! I think the auto send program with Hairfinity is the best, because if you forget (like i did), the company doesn’t,and your Hair Vitamins are still on the way!!!

Just something to keep in mind!!!

I will continue to update you guys periodically from time to time on my Hair Journey! If you want to follow my journey along with receiving my hair and beauty tips, please do not hesitate to like MrsSPJ on facebook!!!!

Soup is my friend

17 Apr

Hey good People!

I hope you all are having a fabulous day! Did I tell you all how much I love you? I’ve been getting messages, emails, and more from many of you telling me how much you love my blog, how much you enjoy reading it, etc. Let me say THANK YOU! Thank you for being willing to be a part of my life.  Thank you for leaving comments, for sharing your thoughts, for being a part of this whole thing. I truly appreciate it.

I got an extra special message yesterday from Kadeejia,  one of my readers! It made my day and it made me smile! I went to school with Kadeejia, and while we may not have been close, I have always respected her and her willingness to try new things, speak her mind, and be friendly to others.
I checked out her page, and Kadeejia has a really cool blog dedicated to blogging, marketing, social media, and being a your own boss!  She gives lots of cool tips and advice and is also a Scentsy seller! Check out her blog here: PaidMommy

On another note, I’m still striving to feel and look my best! In that case, today’s lunch is from the Whole Foods Market!

I opted for Mississippi Style Grilled Chicken. It’s basically grilled chicken only seasoned with light salt and pepper! I thought it was the perfect healthy option! My second choice, was a small cup of Cheese Steak Soup! Let me just tell you, it was DELICIOUS!

We all know how fattening a cheesesteak can be, so I thought hmm let’s try out this soup! I decided to get a small size that way I wasnt consuming too many calories! Although I didn’t eat the whole thing, it was great! It had everything a cheesesteak consists of, a few chunks of steak, cheese, onions, green peppers, all put together in a savory soup! It was so delicious! I know this isn’t something I can have everyday, but it was truly something I enjoyed! Afterall soup is our friend. I haven’t always been a fan of soup, but I’m becoming one. With soup, I can get full without all of the calories a meal typically calls for. Soups can also be a sneaky little thing because they do have calories, but as long as you eat them in moderation, you can get full off of something that tastes great and won’t hurt your waistline as much! So yes, I’m learning to embrace soup and have it as a dear friend! I recently just purchased some soups in the store (lower sodium of course), and I can’t wait to try them out.  For those of you wanting to try it out, I did a search on google, and there are several recipes!

Again, I just thank you for being interested in me, in my journey, in what I have to say, and for that, I have a little surprise:)

For now, it’s a secret, but Ill give ya a hint:

Until Next Time, Much Love,

Emotional but Stylish

3 Apr

Hey there!

Don’t worry folks. Nothing wrong.
I just get super emotional around this time.
Don’t get me wrong, I love God 24/7 365 days but when it gets right around Easter, it’s like it hits me…
I start thinking about the sacrifice, the blood shed, the long journey. It just messes me up emotionally.
Especially because I know it was something done just for me. I can’t think of a better gift. I’m super thankful.

I’ve been a relaxed state all day. Feeling super cute! I decided to wear my sassy but comfy orange heels I told you guys about awhile ago! I think my little outfit turned out pretty cute! Orange Shoes, Orange Shirt. Yeah I’m pretty matchy matchy today but I’m loving it! It looks so wonderful with my tan khakis! I also opted for a subtle makeup look. Just a splash of coral mixed with Gold!

See! Bright and Springy! Just the way I planned! I’m learning how to mixup my wardrobe a bit. How are you bringing in Spring with your wardrobe? I’m always looking to find new tips and techniques. If you have any suggestions, please by all means share them!!! Gap has some really cute shorts, I’m eying but I haven’t made a decision yet. We shall see! I’m still trying to lose 20 plus pounds so I’m hesitant in buying too many bottoms. I want to be smart! (I’m claiming it!)

Anywho, I really have no words for today, but to tell you to enjoy the spring, fill your wardrobe with bright items and it will make you feel better. Last but not least, be thankful for the life you have. Someone died for it.

I’m going to leave this video with you. It’s such a beautiful expression of love for God. It’s one of the greatest songs on James Fortune & Fiya’s “Identity” album.

Weekend Notes

2 Apr

Hey Friends!

Ugh. That’s exactly how I feel this morning.
I had a great weekend though!
Between getting my hair done and doing a little shopping, it was quite pleasant!
I needed my hair done badly! So glad I finally went! We must all remember to take care of ourselves, and yes that includes our hair! I’m telling MYSELF that as well!!!

On another note, I recieved a LOT of compliments on my eye shadow yesterday!! I am always doing something with my makeup, but everyone seemed to like the look yesterday. I even had one lady say, it looks like a peacock look. What do you think?

I have Maybelline’s Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in the color of Tenacious Teal all over my lid. I then went in and used Spectrum Cosmetic’s Shamrock across the tip of the lid. I then took my Sephora Purple Eye Pencil and used it in the corners. After applying everything, I blended it in and There you have it! It was rather easy and I was very thankful for all the compliments. You see for me, My accessory is makeup. I tend to have a rather simple style so makeup allows me to be a little crazy!

That’s it for now. I’ve picked up some Wailitin D! Hopefully, this will get to working and I can be back to my old self. We shall see!!!

Until Next Time, Much Love,

Mrs. SPJ 🙂
