Buy Your Own Damn Flowers

19 Feb

28311863_10101093759165400_811630312_oI can be such a girly girl sometimes. I love Flowers.
I love the way they look, the way they smell, and I love the feeling I get when I’m around them.
Growing up, I found myself always taking photos of flowers, saving them as desktops, phone screensavers and more.
On occasion, I would receive flowers from others and there were many times I didn’t.
My husband once cut flowers that were growing on the side of the house and brought them in. They were beautiful, but I still longed for bouquets, arrangements, etc.
(I know, don’t give me a “side eye”)

My husband is an interesting gift giver to say the least.
Flowers are not one of those things he likes to give, and I get it.
I mean they DO die. They can be ridiculously expensive, and I know some people feel like it is a pointless gift. HOWEVER, this does not change the fact, that I love them, they bring a smile to my face, and there have been so many holidays I waited for someone in my family or him to give me flowers, and then I realized, I had a serious problem.

It was something that I loved, but I was waiting to be “gifted” them.
WHY? Why do we do that? WHY?!?!? When we want to go somewhere, or do something or buy something, why do so many of us wait until someone does it for us?

If we want what makes us happy, WE have the power to surround ourselves with those things, disregard the negative, and create an environment that radiates happiness.

So you know what I did?
I went to Kroger, found a pretty awesome bouquet (on sale at that), and I put it right on my nightstand by my bed. We bonded. We took pictures. They make me Happy. It was everything.

It was a reminder of one of my favorite quotes from Marie Kondo (I’m a huge fan)

So here are a few things I want to encourage you to do:

Stop waiting for “them” to call. Go out and date yourself.
(If you don’t know, you’re pretty awesome)

Stop agonizing on if you should buy something because it may be a bit pricey!
If you like it, save up the money, and get it! You will be glad that you did.

Dance and Sing while no one is watching!
(It’s quite fun and makes you feel super happy and ridiculous at the same time)

Last but not least, buy your own damn flowers.

You deserve it right?

Until Next Time Much Love,

Mrs. SPJ 🙂

Well, Hello Mon…

9 Apr

Well, Hello Monday!

I don’t know why I’m so cheery. I’m truly not happy to see you. I mean I’m thanking God I have seen you, but I wish the weekend would have lasted a bit longer! I have to tell you some of the cool things I’ve been up to!

I’ve added 2 beautiful bowls to my kitchen items, thanks to those talented kids within our program who made bowls to be auctioned off to raise awareness for Hunger Relief and raise money for our organization!

Friday I got to relax a bit, then Saturday I had a very good workout doing Zumba! I pushed myself and though I craved everything at IHOP, I managed to talk myself into going home and making 2 scrambled eggs with light cheese and a little bit of honey ham. I was trying to be satisfied but not all the way full because I knew my husband would want to take his friends out to dinner later, and boy was THAT GOOD!

Pasta Copelands

A new favorite dish of mine from Copeland’s restaurant! It consists of tender shrimp, sautéed with garlic mushrooms and fresh herbs over angel hair pasta. I got a side of pirogue sauce (similar to Alfredo) to give it a bit of additional flavor and WOW! It was awesome! Combine that with good friends sharing an appetizer, what more could you ask for? I’m so glad I decided to go with light eating to allow myself to go a bit overboard for an early dinner! That’s another key factor here, I knew I wanted to go out and “cheat” a bit, so dinner was at 4 instead of later since the dish was so heavy! It was worth every last drop! I love how great the food is and the atmosphere at Copelands! Not to mention, we always get this wonderful waiter named Marcus, who simply knows how to give the best service and advice when it comes to picking a dish! There is a reason I love that place so much!

Sunday morning, my hubby cooked a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and sausage. While he experimented with the pancakes (yeah I didn’t care for them too much lol), I enjoyed the eggs and sausage. He had to work the afternoon and night of Easter, so I did spend quite some time by myself, but my lovely student, Peter, went and ate dinner with me so I wouldn’t have to be by myself:) I also had some great friends who shared messages with me, and text me so I wouldn’t be completely lonely (Thanks Tiara and Monique 🙂 I realized Holidays are very important to me, and that is why I want to spend them with the people that I love most 🙂

Well that’s it for now!

I’m working on something pretty neat right now. Ill share it with you all in a few days!!!

Until Next Time, Much Love 🙂

The Photographer is BACK!

25 Apr

And I’m SOOOOOOOOOO Excited about it! Let me tell you a brief story.

I’ve always been in love with photography. I thought it was just a simple obsession of wanting to take pictures, but then I found myself wanting to create something and develop masterpieces. My father has always loved cameras and has always taken great pictures so of course it became a love of mine as well! Well I took it in school, and my teacher told me that I had a great eye and should consider continuing it. I loved it, so when I got out of school, it was only right that I had a desire to continue it. (I went to school for Communications, not photography) Well, I purchased my own camera and took some Great shots. Then, of course with what you get on ebay, it broke :(…. I loved it so much, and It didn’t bother me as much because I still had an awesome camera at work (a higher end Nikon). Then the job was over, and no camera. So I kind of lost my passion…..

This weekend, I purchased my new baby, an Olympus Pen-2. I was a little nervous because it isn’t the technical SLR that I’m use to, but I realize it’s all about the eye. I take AMAZING pictures with Point and Shoot Cameras… It’s the new wave of Interchangeable Lens cameras, but MAN IS that Little thing powerful!

I plan on guarding it with my life, and taking some great shots! It has the ability to do some amazing things including these filters that allow you to play with the picture a little more.

I’m so excited that I have my love back! I plan on doing some portraits and taking more risks! I’m excited to do so!!! I can’t wait to see how they turn out!!! I’m so AMPED! Something happens to me when I get behind the camera Lens I can’t even begin to explain it!!!
