Heaven’s New Angel

15 Dec

Hello my awesomly wonderful subscribers….

Well today I greet you happily but with a melancholy heart.

For those of you who have been reading my blog, you know that I became a fan of the Fitzgerald Familylast month. They had a remarkable story of a husband who was dealing with not only his wife battiling cancer but his beautiful daughter as well. (Read my earlier post here) https://mrsspj.wordpress.com/2011/11/07/fitzgerald-story/

Well today I went to look at their Facebook page, as I usually do to check on the little beautiful Saoirse (that’s the little girl’s name). I was saddened to read these words, http://www.facebook.com/fitzgeraldcancerfund

“We want to thank you for all of your support and positive energy through out the past 7 months. We are not the kind of people who just stop fighting. Saoirse loved life so much and we have to continue to fight for her and fight for a better way to early detect this horrible disease, educate pediatricians on early signs, find a better way to treat it and of course find a cure for the cancer neuroblastoma. “

Immediately I thought “LOVED” that’s past tense! Then I read that she passed away this past Tuesday and it literally broke my heart. I immediately went to talk to my co worker who knew how invested I was in not only the blog but this family’s story. She was immediately saddened by the news as well. You see you don’t necessarily have to know someone to be touched by their story or their lives. You can simply be invested and I think its important that we care about other people.

Well I loved this little girl from a distance. Never met her, but I felt as if I knew her mom. In fact, she could be a friend of mine just like any of my other friends.  Also those of you who know me, know that I love children dearly and if you ask me, Saoirse was just like one of the children that I care for like so many others. She seemed to have the cutest personality and her expressions always made me laugh! Her parents both loved her so much dearly they not only fought for her cause but they fought for HER. They never let the fact that her cancer was so rare stop them from searching for a cure or an answer.

Saoirse’s mother is currently in remission and all of their focus and attention has been for little Saoirse to get better, but recently they noticed how much the treatments and cancer were affecting the poor little girl. The parents both have blogs and I was reading how the little princess was a bit tired and lacking the energy she usually had. It just breaks my heart to think that anyone has to go through this especially a child. I feel as if a child should be out running and playing, and just simply doing things that all children do.  However it was Saoirse’s time and now shes up in heaven with the man upstairs. She’s probably making him smile with those beautiful eyes and he’s probably laughing at her expressions and giving her hugs and kisses to reassure her that she’s going to be okay with him. However, I have a feeling that lil miss Saoirse already knows she is in good hands 🙂

The family is currently taking up a fund in honor of Saoirse and the information is below. My husband and I plan to send something in memory of her.

This post is dedicated to Saoirse. To her memory, her life, her footprint on this world. I know times like this it’s hard to understand why things happen the way they do, but God has a plan and purpose for all of our lives. Saoirse has shed light on this horrible disease and has brought it to the attention of many.  I thank God for this lil one, and I know she will surely be missed by those whose lives she touched.

” In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Fitzgerald Cancer Fundwww.facebook.com/fitzgeraldcancerfund or www.newmomnewcancer.blogspot.com or by mail in care of People’s United Bank C/O Fitzgerald Cancer Fund, 1 Conant Street, Danvers, MA 01923.”
