Getting to Know you.. Getting to know all about you..

31 Mar

Well not you.. But Jesus..

The beginning of this year, I said I was going to do better about praying and reading the Word. In the beginning I was getting side tracked but still trying to dive into the bible…. Well one of my Lent promises, is to sacrifice some of my time each night and dedicate it to reading the Bible. I started With Job (due to personal things I was going through), then to Ruth (love her commitment), and now I’m in MARK. I must tell you.. I’m learning a lot about Jesus even more than I thought I already know.. I mean I already knew he was awesome, but I’m discovering even more Why he is so awesome.

You see, that’s the cool thing about reading the Bible.. You don’t just have to listen to a preacher telling you, or your Sunday School teacher, or a fellow worshiper, but you discover and interpret the word for yourself. Also, my husband and I talked a lot about it while I was reading, and we were really seeing what it was like and how God intended us to be… I’m telling you, if you just take the time and really read, there is so much goodness in there. I mean, I do have to stop from time to time, to get my Bible Dictionary, or to re-read things, HOWEVER… It’s becoming an amazing experience that I plan on continuing with even after the Lent Season is over. Some really cool things I’ve taken from reading Mark so far:

1. Jesus truly sees everyone as his brother and sister, he doesn’t just say it.. I mean he sees no distinction (Mark 3:35 “For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”)

2. Jesus wanted everyone to remember that it was the Lord who gave him power, and not himself. Therefore he didn’t want the credit of God but wanted people to look towards God. We have to remember who allows us and is truly doing the remarkable things we do.(Mark 5: 18-19 As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed was imploring Him that he might accompany Him. 19And He did not let him, but He said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.” )

3. It’s about the power of God. I will have to do a separate blog about this sometime in the future…. (MARK 5 34And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”)The really cool part about this passage is that Jesus didn’t turn around and touch this woman, this woman was made well because she believed in it..POWERFUL STUFF!

4. We’ve heard it before but it’s true.. God will use people from all different backgrounds. Just look at the 12 disciples…. (Mark 3:16And He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter), 17and James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”); 18and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot; 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.)

But hey, don’t take my word for it. Read it yourself…

I made it to the Mountaintop!

25 Mar

LITERALLY! and I about died doing so…..

My husband said he was going to Pinnacle Mountain, and I thought I’m going to shock him, Im going to go with him….. This is where the inside of me should have SLapped me! Seriously! What was I thinking?!?!?!

My hubby said we will go up the easy side, but I guess this is where Easy side is dependable upon the lengths of your legs. I watched people climb it pretty fast, but then there was me. Who kept a steady pace, but I was dying climbing that mountain. You see, most people can just walk up, but because my legs are so short, it got to a point where I had to pull myself up and that was very frustrating for me. It was a good workout, but let me tell you, I WAS TERRIFIED ON THE INSIDE! I kept stepping on rocks that were not as secure as I would have liked them to be, and it was mind boggiling! But boy oh boy… when you get to the top????

It was absolutely beautiful… I felt like I succeeded, accomplished something. And though the pollen and dust KILLED me going up,I was glad I fought through it and never gave up.I just sat there and looked out across Little Rock and thanked God for creating something so beautiful, and allowing me to see it. When you get up there and see all the beauty around you, you can’t help but know that God exists………

Hubby looked around for awhile and climbed around the mountain while I sat there and enjoyed the view..lol

Anywho, it was beautiful…… Tough, but beautiful.. You can probably see the Red in my face…. There were several people climbing and one in particular was making me mad because she was climbing up like it was NOTHING! Just walking up the mountain! Anywho, you have to start somewhere my good people!
Check out a really cool picture I edited that I took on the mountain! Isn’t it super cool!!!

Anywho, Until Next Time,

Mrs. SPJ 🙂

Random Moments

ME….

Why am I so defensive at times?
I don’t know.
I can’t figure that out.
Maybe it’s because I do believe the world is against me at times.
Or maybe it’s because I believe no one understands me…
Yeah.. Maybe that’s it.
You know, I try not to be so defensive, but I’m always feeling
like I have to DEFEND something.

Today was an okay day I guess.
Just missin home a lil….
Ok, so a lot…
I guess its just one of those days where I wish
I was far far away in another place.. Wouldn’t that be beautiful?

Anyplace but here would be right now 😦
Just doesn’t have the home feeling…

Maybe one day..

Starting the Lent Season: One A Day

10 Mar

That’s right! I started the Lent Season officially today! There was some confusion with when I was suppose to start. My husband is catholic, so he technically started yesterday. I’m methodist so I started today and if you disagree with my decision, then oh well. It’s how I’ve always done it growing up.

I love the Lent Season. It’s a time for repentance. A time for thinking, for sacrificing. Such a beautiful time.. I like to think of Lent also as a time to get closer to God. Since part of the Lent season requires giving something up, this year it’s about One a Day.

So let me give you a little bit of background. I’ve done the no bread, no teas, no sodas, no starches, etc…. No computer, but this year I want to focus on one a day. I wanted to do something different, and kidna give up things I love in all areas of my life. So this is the plan:

Any Sodas/teas Once a day.
Any Sweets/Only Once a day.
Any Starches/Only Once a day.

This should be rather trying for me since now I work, my coworkers ALWAYS have sweets. I LOVEEEEEEEEE TEA. I LOVEEEE DIET SODAS (Although I don’t drink them that often)… and I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE STARCHES. One thing you must also know about me, is that I love these things MULTIPLE times a day although I do tend to be a health nut, I just cut back.. But having them once a day is going to be tricky. You see, at work I take Lean Cuisines, so there goes my one starch a day right there.

Oh and another important part of this process:

Being on the computer only from 7 to 7.
To you, that may not seem hard. But to me, it is. When I get bored, I get on the computer. On the weekends, I’m on the computer. I HAVE to be on the computer at work, hence the 7 to 7 thing. But this is very trying for me. One year I did until 8, but I moved it up this year. So no reading emails, no facebook, no NOTHING!! I will spend this time, reading the bible, and focusing on the things that really matter. GOD!

I will be keeping a journal of my Lent Season this year as the newly married Mrs. Jermaine Jones. You will see my experiences!!

P.S. Day 1- there were brownies in the kitchen this morning, and cookies with nuts in them this afternoon. Hence, I tasted a brownie, but GOSH THOSE COOKIES LOOKED SO GOOD! Not for me though!

Well until next time,

Smile!

Ashten to the Rescue….

9 Mar

So…. I know… It’s been a really long time.. I guess I haven’t felt inspired… Or maybe.. I forgot.. Or just maybe…. I was like who in the world is going to read this? Then I realized, things like blogs, or diaries, are for me.. Not others, and if others read, well hey, the more the merrier.. So I was talking to my absolutely wonderful Co-worker today, Ashten, and she has such a cute blog, “It’s Always Something”…. and it was so cute, and she does so well with posting, and keeping up with it, I said, you know what? I’m going to do better! So Ashten encouraged me to continue with my blog, to post, and well basically, to do better! She even gave me some fun tips for snazzing it up a bit and I’m truly excited about it!! So…. I shall be posting more.. Thanks Ashten for coming to the rescue… And her blog is pretty cute too look:
